Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor's referral to book an appointment?

Clients are welcome to book a Kinesiology service appointment without a formal physician referral process. However, for ICBC claims, clients do require a doctor's referral to receive services.

What is the difference between a kinesiologist and a physiotherapist?

Both have a unique key coordinating role as part of your health care team; outcomes are best when there is an opportunity to work together on your behalf.

Physiotherapists focus prominently, but not exclusively, on intermittent acute injury care/ recovery. They utilize a wide range of evidence-based interventions, including manual therapy with specific functional goals related to the limitation/injury.

Kinesiologists focus holistically, utilizing a total body movement training approach with specialized injury care embedded in their practice.

Do extended health benefits cover your services?

Kinesiology and exercise physiology services are not generally covered under most extended health care plans. Therefore, it’s best to contact your plan provider for clarification before scheduling services.

What should I wear and bring to my appointment?

Please wear loose, comfortable indoor exercise clothing and supportive footwear.

Please bring your doctor's referral note, if applicable, as well as a complete detailed list of prescription and non-prescription medications, supplements, relevant specialist supporting documentation, and diagnostic/imaging results (Xray/ MRI/ CT and bloodwork results)

What is your cancellation policy?

To support timely responses for urgent care needs and in the context of a full waitlist, the courtesy of two full business day notice for any appointment change/cancellation is needed to avoid full-service fee charges. Hourly appointment times are diligently adhered to; please consider transit, traffic and parking needs that may impact your appointment planning.
